Rich is an amazing poet. I already love all his poetry. A few years back Rich joined a private group on FB. Once a year we are asked to cover songs for The Great Cover Song Challenge. I enjoy Rich's versions of songs which sound like sound collages that would do David Lynch proud. I think this might be my favorite so far.

about
Victor Infante's "Cover Song Challenge" of 2021 is here! This time around, the challenge was to cover a song that you would be assigned with no say in the matter - once you accept the mission, you must complete it! Victor chose songs from the Disco age, and I was given the task of covering the song "Shame" by Evelyn "Champagne" King. I've never heard this song. I've never heard of Evelyn "Champagne" King. What I know about the Disco movement would not be enough to fill a leopard print shot glass. Will I ever listen to the original song? Time will tell.
Enjoy!
PS - if you love Disco music, and if you are a fan of Ms. King's, I'm sorry in advance.
lyrics
"Shame"
Shame
Burning, you keep my whole body yearning
You got me so confused
It's a shame
Sometimes I think I'm going insane
But still I want to stay
Wrapped in your arms
Is where I want to be, want to be
Wrapped in your arms
That's my high, my high
Shame, ooh
My mother says you're playing a game
And what you do to me is a shame
Ooh, gonna love you just the same
Mama just don't understand
Wrapped in your arms
Is where I want to be, want to be
Wrapped in your arms
That's my high, my high
I can't get enough, ooh baby
Enough of that magic touch
Love is in my heart
Tearing the rules apart
So, why should I be ashamed
Only love can be to blame
If we lose our love it's a shame
Ooh, I wouldn't want to live with the pain
Gonna stay forever
Wrapped in your arms
Is where I want to be, want to be
Wrapped in your arms
That's my high, my high
Shame
Only love can be to blame
If we lose our love it's a shame
Ooh, I wouldn't want to live with the pain
Oh, it's a shame
Shame...
